Telethon to Aid Hurricane Victims

The Spanish-language Telemundo television network will air a live five-hour telethon Sunday to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Georges in the U.S. and Latin America.

Titled “Unidos por el Caribe” (United for the Caribbean), the show will be produced in Miami and Puerto Rico, and will air locally on KVEA-TV Channel 52, beginning at 4 p.m.

The program will be hosted by numerous personalities of popular Telemundo shows, and will feature musical presentations as well as guest appearances by international celebrities including Carlos Ponce, Enrique Iglesias, Jose Feliciano, Jon Secada, Willie Chirino and Ruben Blades. The telethon will also highlight exclusive testimonies of some victims, who will tell stories of courage and loss.

Viewers will be able to place their donations by calling a toll-free telephone number. Proceeds of the telethon will be distributed by the American Red Cross.
