E-Trade to Add Insurance Pricing to Web Site

E-Trade Group Inc., the online brokerage, said it has signed an agreement with InsWeb Corp. to offer comparison shopping for auto and term life insurance policies on the E-Trade Web site. E-Trade, which is No. 2 to Charles Schwab Corp. in online securities trading market share, said it might also add homeowners, individual health and medical insurance shopping. Palo Alto-based E-Trade said 19 insurers have agreed to post prices and terms of auto and life coverage on the site. E-Trade shares fell 91 cents to close at $12.03 on Nasdaq.
