How can pancakes benefit fish?

When FISH stands for Friends In Service to Humanity, and the pancakes are served at an all-you-can-eat fund-raising buffet today to benefit the charity.

FISH, a United Way organization that’s celebrating its 30th year, offers short-term assistance for needy families in Costa Mesa, Irvine and Newport Beach.

In the first three months of 1998, FISH helped 1,100 families with more than $50,000 worth of food and nearly $20,000 in rental assistance and other aid, including utility payments to prevent shut-offs, gasoline and child care. The organization also delivers meals to the elderly and homebound.
