Habitat Group to Build Family a Home by Thanksgiving

Share

Habitat for Humanity volunteers will build a new Del Mar Avenue home in one week as part of “blitz build” Nov. 7-14.

Volunteers are planning to finish the home by Thanksgiving so a family can celebrate the holiday there.

Two shifts of 40 to 60 volunteers will work from early morning to late evening raising walls, pounding nails, routing plumbing and wiring, hanging drywall, painting and landscaping. A house blessing ceremony will follow upon completion.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical ministry dedicated to providing housing for poor people worldwide. The agency uses donations and volunteer labor to build “simple, decent” homes and sell them to qualified working families, who are provided no-interest loans. Since the Orange County chapter formed in 1988, 71 houses have been built around the county..
