Downey Financial Income Up 21%

Downey Financial Corp., the Newport Beach-based parent of Downey Savings & Loan Assn., reported third-quarter net income of $12.8 million, or 45 cents a share, a 21% increase from $10.6 million, or 37 cents a share, for the same quarter last year. Total assets remained at $5.9 billion.
