* This is how it looks to me.
Sen. John Glenn (D-Ohio) spends 98% of his time training and preparing for his own personal “joy ride,” and the rest of Congress and the White House folks spend 98% of their time bashing and investigating each other. So my conclusion is that they are all overpaid by 98%, and meanwhile the business of government is being run by second-level management. And they accuse the public of not being interested in the government. They are wrong--98% of us are interested.

Glenn castigates the press for not concentrating on “the scientific stuff” (Oct. 9). Why should they, when all of the 83 experiments could be conducted without his presence? As to the effect of weightlessness on 77-year-old astronauts, let’s get real! How many 77-year-olds are going to go into space? Let’s call this what it is, the ultimate political “junket.”
