A cereal and snack box top fund-raising effort is underway at Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary School to spark improvements in underserved schools throughout the county.
A kickoff event with actor Mario Lopez of TV’s “Pacific Blue” starts at 10 a.m. Monday at the school, 13221 Lilly St.
Box Tops for Education, an Adopt-a-School program sponsored by cereal maker General Mills, enables elementary schools to raise as much as $10,000 a year for supplies by collecting box tops. Schools receive 15 cents per cereal box top and 10 cents for every snack box top redeemed with General Mills.
