The fifth annual celebration of Mehregan, the Persian festival of autumn, will take place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and Sunday at Lakeside Park, next to the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre.

Mehregan, more than 2,500 years old, is a celebration of nature, seasons and the birthday of light.

The Mehregan Organizing Committee has dedicated this year’s event to Molana Jala-Al-Din Rumi, a famous Persian philosopher and mystical poet who lived about 700 years ago.
