Congregation in Need of New Church

Share

A blossoming Christian congregation has outgrown its borrowed home and is searching for a new location to hold its Sunday afternoon services.

Mission Hispana Biblica, a ministry that has attracted a number of low-income parishioners, has expanded to more than 100 people. That is about four times the size of the congregation at Simi Valley Bible Church, where the ministry has held services for the past eight years.

“I know the Lord will touch somebody out there,” said Maria Hamilton, minister of Mission Hispana Biblica. “We need help financially, and we need a place.”

Because the cash-strapped ministry depended on the free sanctuary, it is hopeful that another church will permit it to share its facilities before it has to move on Jan. 1.

“Our church is different from everybody else’s,” Hamilton said. “Our people are very low income. We don’t have any money.” Hamilton said that along with a place to worship, the ministry seeks a location where it could provide child care for the congregation and a place for members’ children to gather after school.
