University Library to Get Donor’s Name

Share

The Cal State Fullerton University Library on Thursday will be named in honor of a founding faculty member who recently donated $1 million.

It will be named the Paulina June and George Pollak Library. Paulina June Pollak began her career with the English and comparative literature department in 1961.

The gift is the largest the university has received from a faculty member. The money will be used to create the library’s first collection endowment.

The Pollaks, who are San Juan Capistrano residents, have continued to support the university since Paulina June Pollak retired in 1990. She serves on the CSUF Endowment Council and the Emeriti Executive Committee, and is president of the Patrons of the Library.

In 1992, the couple donated a townhouse valued at more than $165,000 to the university. Proceeds from the sale of the house will benefit the library, English and comparative literature department, Continuing Learning Experience and the theater and dance department.

A ceremony will be at 10:45 a.m. Thursday to honor the Pollaks.
