Police are investigating the sexual assault of two teenagers Monday at the Seacliff Shopping Center.

The girls, 13 and 16, said they were attacked about 10 a.m. in a shuttered area of the Main Street shopping complex, said Lt. Jon Arnold. The center is being remodeled and many of the businesses are closed.

Arnold said the girls reported the assault at 10:20 a.m. and were taken for medical examinations, Arnold said.

The girls told officers they were at the rear of the center when a man approached them and convinced them to follow him to an abandoned area, Arnold said. There, he assaulted them, Arnold said.

Police did not know why the girls were not in school at the time.

Officers are looking for a suspect in his late 20s, 5 feet 7 and about 165 pounds. He reportedly wore black sweat pants, a tan, short-sleeved polo shirt and a large straw hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call (714) 960-8811.
