Ascend Communications Inc. said Hassan Ahmed, who headed the Alameda, Calif.-based company’s key computer-switch division, resigned this week, becoming the second top executive to leave since July. President and Chief Executive Mory Ejabat will oversee the unit until a replacement is found.
