Speed Bumps

Share

* Re “Controversy Putting Brakes on the Use of Speed Bumps,” Oct. 7: The purpose of speed bumps is to encourage drivers to slow down. Certainly, everyone wants safe streets, particularly for children. However, all children should be trained to look both ways before crossing a street. “Stop, look and listen” was the mantra that I learned in the ‘50s. If they cannot be trained to do so, then they should either be supervised or not out on the street.

Anything that hinders a rapid emergency response should not be permitted.
