Platinum Software Corp.

The Irvine software company reported a profit of $4.7 million, or 16 cents a share, for the first quarter of fiscal 1999, compared with profit of $1.3 million, or 5 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 showed a gain of 66% to $30.3 million from $18.3 million.
