County Assessor’s Office

Share

County assessor is one of the most important elective positions on the Ventura County ballot this year. Homeowners need to make a careful choice about the type of person who will be valuing their biggest asset. That is why I a m pleased that Dan Goodwin is running for county assessor.

I grew up in Newbury Park and represent Ventura County on the state Board of Equalization. This board oversees the work of county assessors, and we see abuses from some who are more interested in raising revenue for more government than in assessing the accurate fair-market rate.

Ventura County residents have one of the best-qualified candidates for county assessor in California in Dan Goodwin. He is one of the most highly regarded appraisers in Southern California and is seen as a leader in the profession. He has achieved ranking in the top 15% of appraisers nationwide.

More importantly, Dan Goodwin understands that homeowners need to be protected from overzealous appraisers. With Dan you will know that your assessment is based on common sense, not revenue seeking.

I have served on the Assessment Appeals Board for many years because of my interest in making sure that the assessments are fair for everyone. During these years I have had the opportunity to observe the fine work of Jim Dodd. His intelligence, education in the law, respect for the rights of all residents, experience in assessing and especially his integrity make him the ideal Ventura County Assessor.

He is a person we can trust who will not favor powerful people over the little homeowner. He will follow the law and will be very fair. I have great respect for Jim Dodd. He may not be a salesman but he will be a trusted Ventura County Assessor.
