Advanced Micro Devices Inc. has promoted Atiq Raza to co-chiel operating officer, as the Sunnyvale-based chip maker prepares for Raza to replace current President Ricahrd Previte in 1999. Raza, 49, is currently executive vice president, chief technical officer and a member of the board. He joined the company when his firm, NexGen Inc. was bought by AMD in 1996.
