Next Thursday in Southern California Living, we bring you Home, a new section devoted to interiors, gardening and remodeling. From pillows to planters, we’ll help you make your place more inviting to you and your visitors.

Times staff writer Jeannine Stein profiles Kitty Bartholomew, host of HGTV’s “Kitty Bartholomew: You’re Home,” a weekly decorating and design show that is one of the jewels in the new cable network’s crown. What you see on the small screen is what you get in real life: Bartholomew is passionate about making your space just a little bit nicer, if all it takes is cutting some leaves from the backyard and putting them in a favorite bowl--and not spending a nickel in the process.

Home will also be the place for gardeners. Times garden editor Robert Smaus says gardeners in search of bold new ideas for their yards should visit the redesigned and rebuilt Sunset Demonstration Gardens at the Arboretum of Los Angeles County in Arcadia.

And who--with huge bucks--is buying what? Ruth Ryon’s Hot Property column makes its debut in Home and will continue to run on Sunday in Real Estate.
