Aggressively promoting a Christmas theme, Disneyland is selling $49 passes good for unlimited admissions after 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, from Monday through Dec. 24. Passes for children cost $39 each, and there’s a $12 parking pass.

The passes are on sale at park ticket booths, Disneyland said Wednesday. The park breaks out its Christmas finery Sunday, a month earlier than in previous years.

That puts Disneyland in Christmas mode just as Knott’s Berry Farm wraps up a month’s worth of heavily promoted Halloween fright nights. In the past, Disneyland tried Halloween-themed events of its own, but this year it ceded the haunted holiday to its Buena Park rival.

However, down at Walt Disney World in Florida, Halloween was still on the agenda, with trick-or-treating and a not-so-scary parade at the Magic Kingdom and various events at the company’s other three theme parks.

Up the freeway in Universal City, Universal Studios Hollywood has its own Christmas promotion this year. Its “Hollywood Wonderland,” featuring a huge display of Christmas lights, runs Nov. 27 through Jan. 3.

Universal is offering reduced prices for Southern California residents and their guests. Beginning Nov. 6, area residents will get $10 off the admission price of $38 for adults and $26 for children.
