ChromaVision Medical Systems Inc.: The San Juan Capistrano company, which manufactures a system to detect and treat cellular disease, incurred a net loss of $1.9 million, or 11 cents a share, for the third quarter, compared with a net loss of $1.5 million, or 11 cents a share, for the comparable period in 1997. The company said the higher loss was due primarily to legal and licensing costs, an increase in research and development expenses and the addition of technical personnel.

The company generated revenue of $7,194 for the third quarter. No revenue was recorded a year ago.
