Bustamante

Re “State Office Endorsements,” editorial, Oct. 22: When did The Times crown itself the grand Pooh-Bah of California politics? The distorted logic used by The Times to endorse Cruz Bustamante for lieutenant governor sounds like the intoxicated ravings of the self-anointed!

The Times attempts to steer voters away from GOP candidate Tim Leslie because he supports the “divisive” Prop. 187. Californians sent a clear message by voting 2 to 1 to cut off taxpayer-funded handouts to illegal immigrants. Bustamante opposes the will of the people on Prop. 187, yet The Times staggers to the conclusion that he is “more in line with California’s needs” than Leslie, who supports voters on 187.
