Circuit City Stores Inc. said it expects second-quarter earnings to be in line with estimates of 32 cents a share, on strong sales of personal computers and appliances. The consumer electronics retailer earned 28 cents in the year-earlier quarter.

* Breed Technologies Inc., which makes automobile air bags, said it will delay its fiscal fourth-quarter and 1998 earnings report because of a dispute with the Securities and Exchange Commission over restructuring and other charges it took in the second quarter. The announcement sent its shares down $3.13 to close at $7 on the NYSE.

* Ameritech Corp., the fifth-largest Baby Bell, said it’s bidding to buy a 25% stake in Austria’s state telecommunications and postal network, Post & Telekom Austria, or PTA. Ameritech didn’t say how much it would pay for the stake.
