The full moon will be partialy eclipsed when it moves through the Earth’s shadow on Sunday morning. The upper right portion of the moon will darken slightly for about two hours from 3 to 5 a.m. The moon will move through only the outer part of the Earth’s shadow (the peumbra) and will not darken dramatically. No special tools are needed to watch an eclipse of the moon, but binoculars will improve the view. Brilliant Jupiter is 11 degrees east of the moon.
