The Justice Department filed its list of witnesses in the U.S. government’s antitrust case against Microsoft Corp., which includes several of the software giant’s competitors, technical experts and economic specialists. In response, Microsoft released its own list of witnesses who, it said, would “refute the government’s case.” Among those scheduled to testify are eight of Microsoft’s senior executives; John Rose, senior vice president of Compaq; and Michael Devlin, president of Rational Software. The government has called Netscape’s James Barksdale, David Colburn of America Online Inc., William Harris of Intuit Inc., Steven McGeady of Intel Corp. and John Soyring of IBM Corp. Other witnesses include David Farber, professor of telecommunications systems, University of Pennsylvania; Edward Felten, assistant professor of computer science, Princeton University; and Franklin Fisher, professor of economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
