From Times Wire Reports

Colombia’s Marxist rebels released an American they held hostage for more than five months, just in time to let him celebrate his 64th birthday in freedom. Donald Lee Carey, who was abducted by Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia rebels March 21, was turned over to the Red Cross in Cundinamarca province. Carey, described in local reports as a former oil company worker, is retired and has been living on his small farm in Cundinamarca with his Colombian wife for 19 years. Carey told Radionet all-news radio that his family paid a ransom but said he was unable to say how much money was involved.
