* Farm equipment maker Case Corp. said it will cut 1,000 jobs, or 5.6% of its work force, on expectations its 1998 profit will fall 25% because of lower demand in North America and economic problems in Russia. The Racine, Wis.-based company said the projected earnings decline does not include an expected charge of $70 million to $80 million it will take to cover costs of the job cuts.

* Novell Inc. agreed to license and use Microsoft Corp.’s Web browser in its products, but did not give financial details of the agreement. Novell already ships Netscape Communications Corp.’s browser with its products.

* Delta Air Lines Inc. said it will eliminate first-class seating on its intercontinental flights, which will be reconfigured to offer only coach and business-class seating, starting next spring.
