From Times Wire Reports

Riot police and troops guarded Indonesia’s presidential palace, watching student protesters who were demanding that the president either rein in soaring food prices or quit. Habibie, who is struggling with Indonesia’s worst economic crisis in 30 years. The powerful military has said it supports the president.
