* 8:05 tonight

Site--Memorial Stadium

Records--Zodiac 16-12 (46 points), Sounders 18-12 (52 points)

Record vs. Sounders--2-2

Update--After winning only 11 games in its first season, the Zodiac qualified for the A-League playoffs this year. But the Zodiac limped into the playoffs, losing three of its last four regular-season games and finished sixth in the Western Conference. Steve Patterson led the Zodiac in scoring with 26 points. Eddie Soto was second with 23 points, but Soto played sparingly down the stretch. The Zodiac’s defense has been suspect all season. It gave up 43 goals, the second most of any playoff team. Seattle won 14 of its last 20 games and finished third in the Western Conference. Forward John Smith led the Sounders with 29 points, forward Martin Reynders was second with 28 points. If the Zodiac wins, it would advance to the second round and play a two-game, home-and-away series beginning Sept. 17.
