Iverson Movie Ranch Hosts Western Festival
A good old-fashioned country western hoedown will return to Iverson Movie Ranch in Chatsworth this weekend.
The private ranch, which has served as a set for more than 2,700 movies, will be opened to the public Saturday and Sunday for Wild, Wild West Days, a two-day event featuring country music entertainment, line dancing and “the best dang barbecue and eats around,” said Michele Bastin, event organizer.
The event also will feature a film festival, featuring “The Cowboy and the Senorita,” Roy Rogers and Dale Evans’ first film together; “The Legend of the Lone Ranger,” starring Clayton Moore, and the Gene Autry film “Loaded Pistols,” Bastin said.
Proceeds from the event, sponsored by the California Country Music Assn., the Simi Valley-based club Trail Riders of the West and Timeless Video in Chatsworth, will go to the Roy Rogers & Dale Evans Happy Trails Children’s Foundation to benefit abused and neglected youths, Bastin said. The event is dedicated to the late singing cowboy, who died July 6.
The festival is from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Iverson Ranch. Tickets are $8 for adults, free for children younger than 10. For more information or directions, contact Bastin at (818) 773-0284.
