Roepke Gives Regals Victory

Cal Lutheran midfielder Holly Roepke scored the game-winning goal in the 109th minute Thursday to lift the Regals to a 3-2 sudden-death overtime victory over visiting UC Santa Cruz in a nonconference women's soccer match.

Roepke's goal came off a rebound of her own shot that Santa Cruz goalkeeper Jessica Morgan deflected. Roepke was credited with an assist on Ashley Scott's goal in the eighth minute, which gave Cal Lutheran (4-1) a 1-0 lead.

Betsy Fisch forced overtime with an unassisted goal from 35 yards in the 61st minute.


Eastern Washington def. CS Northridge, 15-7, 15-2, 15-4--Laura Szymanski had 19 kills for Northridge in a Big Sky Conference opener at Eastern Washington (6-0, 1-0).

Nancy Ma had six kills for Northridge (4-3, 0-1).


Cal Lutheran 3, UC Santa Cruz 0--Matt Romero scored twice for the Kingsmen in a nonconference game at Cal Lutheran.
