Bucciarelli’s Late Goal Keeps Irvine Unbeaten

Senior forward Nicole Bucciarelli scored both goals as UC Irvine escaped with a 2-2 tie against Loyola Marymount in nonconference women’s soccer Friday.

Bucciarelli tied the score with one minute remaining on a direct kick. She gave the Anteaters a 1-0 lead on a header off a cross from Stephanie Rigamat in the first half.

Kerri Tanksley scored both goals for Loyola Marymount (3-0-2). UC Irvine remains unbeaten at 5-0-1. Loyola is 3-0-2.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Southern California College 4, Whittier 3 (OT)--Matt Palmer scored two goals for visiting SCC (5-4), including the game-winner five minutes into sudden death overtime.

Aaron Grillo tied the score, 3-3, for SCC in the 74th minute, one minute after Whittier’s Jon Morris scored. Ian Hatch had three assists for SCC. Whittier is 0-4.

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

St. Mary’s 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--Heather Dill had 18 kills to lead St. Mary’s (4-2) to a 15-12, 15-6, 15-13 victory. Kahea Smith had 12 kills and seven digs for Fullerton (4-2). Michelle Halliday added 11 kills.

San Jose State 3, UC Irvine 0--Joslynn Gallop had 13 kills to lead San Jose State to a 15-4, 15-8, 15-7 victory over the visiting Anteaters (3-7). San Jose State is 7-2.
