Saturday: Workshop on bonsai for children 6 and older (must be accompanied by an adult), 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Can~ada Flintridge, (818) 952-4401. $12 fee for each child (includes a young juniper tree to work with), plus $5 admission for adult.

Saturday and Sept. 27: Show and sale of bonsai by the South Coast Bonsai Society, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, at the South Coast Botanic Garden, 26300 Crenshaw Blvd., Palos Verdes Peninsula, (310) 544-1948. $5, adults; $3, seniors and students; $1, children.
