Dental/Medical Diagnostic Systems Inc. in Westlake Village has shipped 500 units of its tooth whitening and curing system domestically since it was approved by the Food and Drug Administration last month.
The Apollo 95E, currently marketed at $4,500, significantly whitens discolored teeth in less than an hour, company officials said. Because the Apollo 95E is not a laser, a dental assistant can perform the procedure.
In addition, the product dries and hardens fillings in one to three seconds, company officials said, making it the fastest commercially available dental non-laser curing light known to the company.
Dental/Medical Diagnostic Systems designs and manufactures high-technology dental equipment.
