Alpha Microsystems to Service Ingram PCs

Santa Ana-based Alpha Microsystems has signed an agreement to provide service and support for Ingram Micro Inc.’s line of unbranded computers. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Ingram Micro, the world’s largest distributor of computer products, began assembling PCs for different manufacturers earlier this year. Some of the machines carry a manufacturer’s brand such as IBM or Compaq; others--known as “white boxes”--have no brand.
Alpha Microsystems, which handles computer-service needs for high-tech firms, will cover warranty services and provide support for customers who buy white-box personal computers. Ingram Micro officials said these unbranded systems include a one-year warranty, which covers 24-hour telephone support and next-day on-site parts and labor.
Omnitech Gencorp Inc. in Miami will supply replacement parts to Alpha Microsystems for hardware repairs.
