From Times Wire Reports

Trying to do for cancer research what Earth Day did for the environment and a decade of street activism did for the fight against AIDS, tens of thousands of cancer survivors and countless friends of the dead will gather on the Mall in the capital this weekend to demand better care and a faster cure. Sequined with celebrities and supported by an unprecedented coalition of cancer organizations, the event begins tonight with a candlelight service and concludes Saturday. “This is building a national movement to cure cancer,” said Richard N. Atkins, chairman of what organizers call The March.
