Oxnard native Daniel Lee Jacobs died Sept. 19. He was 38.
Jacobs was born May 8, 1960, in Oxnard. He attended Oxnard High School and studied cooking in London, where he received a culinary arts certificate, his family said.
Jacobs also lived in Santa Barbara, where he was a past president of the local NAACP chapter. He also managed New House, a residential substance-abuse treatment facility, his family said.
Jacobs also did work in computer consulting and public relations. He traveled extensively through Europe, South America, Asia and the South Pacific and was an avid collector of folk and ethnic art from around the world.
Jacobs is survived by his parents, James W. and Florence L. Jacobs of Oxnard, a brother, Melvin Jacobs of Oxnard; three sisters, Beverly Ann Powell, Helen Jacobs Childs and Chyrstal Lynn Jacobs, all of Oxnard; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday at Garcia Mortuary in Oxnard. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Oxnard with interment to follow ay Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
