Robert H. Brown; Longtime Area Resident

Robert H. Brown, a 60-year Ventura County resident, died Friday after a lengthy illness. He was 81.

Brown, a Ventura resident, was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Oswego, Kan., to George and Goldie Brown.

He served in the merchant marine during World War II and was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion. He was a retired operating engineer.

Brown made daily visits to a senior citizens activity center on Ventura Avenue. His friends described him as a union supporter and a longtime Democrat.

Brown was preceded in death by two brothers, Wes and Ray Brown, and a sister, Nadine Brown.

He is survived by a son, Jerry Brown of Somis; two sisters; two grandsons and a granddaughter; and two great granddaughters.

There will be visitation from noon to 5 p.m. Monday at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Brown will be interred next to his parents at the Lake Creek Cemetery in Parsons, Kan.
