From Times Wire Reports

Serbian forces pounded mountain villages in southern Kosovo, sending local people fleeing from their homes, only hours after Serbia claimed to have ended its offensive. Western diplomats and journalists said they saw artillery bombard ethnic Albanian hamlets in the Mt. Jezero area and spoke to desperate refugees streaming away from the zone. In Belgrade, the Serbian and Yugoslav capital, Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Marjanovic told a special session of parliament on the crisis that “peace reigns in Kosovo today . . . as of today all anti-terrorist activities have ended.” Marjanovic also said troops were being ordered back to their barracks but would remain on alert. Journalists, however, saw scores of police and army vehicles entering Kosovo from central Serbia.
