A local grower has been elected to the USC board of trustees.

Joseph M. Boskovich, chief executive of Oxnard-based Boskovich Farms, oversees the company that produces more than 30 varieties of vegetables and strawberries annually.

“Joseph Boskovich is precisely the kind of person that our board of trustees looks for when it recruits new members,” President Steven B. Sample said in a statement. “He is an esteemed figure within his profession, a civic leader and a person who deeply values the University of Southern California and what it stands for.”

Boskovich is also chairman of the board of the Grower Shipper Assn. of Central California and a board member of the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Assn.
