IRS Agent Sentenced for Soliciting Bribe
An IRS agent who admitted demanding a $25,000 bribe from a taxpayer has been sentenced to two years in federal prison.
Larry Lee Wilson, 42, of Alhambra was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and to perform 300 hours of community service after his release.
Wilson pleaded guilty last year to one count of demanding a bribe and one count of preparing a false IRS form in connection with his audit of a Century City lawyer.
The lawyer, Joseph D. Davis, contacted IRS authorities immediately after Wilson asked for the money and cooperated in an ensuing investigation.
Wilson was arrested when he went to Davis’ office and accepted $15,000 in cash.
In sentencing Wilson on Thursday, U.S. District Judge Christina A. Snyder also determined that Wilson solicited bribes on two other occasions.
