City Must Act on Haster Gardens

Share

* Regarding your March 31 editorial in which you exhort the city of Garden Grove to find a solution to the safety and health problems the tenants at Haster Gardens face:

We hope the mayor of Garden Grove and the rest of the City Council read the editorial as well.

Anyone who has visited Haster Gardens knows the horrific conditions these people face each day--conditions which make it nearly impossible to enjoy even the basics of home life.

These include a hot shower, a clean, safely prepared meal or even a working heater to keep the children warm in their beds at night.

For the past several years, the city and Mayor Bruce Broadwater have known about the problems their citizens at Haster Gardens have faced. Despite proclamations otherwise, little of substance has been done for the people who live in the mire of the roach- and mold-infested property.

This month, the tenants, through our company, Eviction Protectors, put the mayor and city on notice that they want action, a plan, real stuff, no more promises.

Broadwater needs to know the residents are running out of patience with half-steps and broken promises.
