* “Communication for Maximum Human Effectiveness” will be the topic of a meeting of the District 10 chapter of Professionals in Human Resources Assn. from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Radisson Hotel, 600 Esplanade Drive, Oxnard. The speaker will be Pat Allen of the Want Institute.

* A tutorial on “Starting a Nonprofit,” sponsored by the Ventura County Community Foundation, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Resource Center for Nonprofit Organizations, 1317 Del Norte Road, Suite 150, Camarillo. The session will include how to gain tax-exempt status, strategic planning, resource development and communications strategies.
