RealNetworks Inc., the No. 1 maker of software used to access audio and video online, agreed to acquire closely held Xing Technology Corp. for as much as $75 million in stock. San Luis Obispo-based Xing’s AudioCatalyst MP3 software allows music to be heard on the Web using the popular MP3 technology, which makes it easy to copy and distribute compact disc-quality music over the Internet without paying royalties. Seattle-based RealNetworks said it will issue new shares, which will account for about 1% of its shares outstanding, to acquire Xing.
