Groups File Suit to Block New Grazing Policy
Livestock and public lands groups from four Western states on Wednesday filed a federal lawsuit to stop the Bureau of Land Management’s new grazing policy, which is scheduled to go into effect in September.
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Denver, said the new policy would eliminate grazing permits on public lands if the BLM had not completed its environmental review.
“That would put many family ranchers out of business even though they’ve been on the land for many generations,” said Frank Falen of Budd-Falen Law Offices in Cheyenne, Wyo., which filed for the plaintiffs.
