DreamWorks Venture With Colleges

Re “DreamWorks Enters Venture With Colleges,” April 9.

As a taxpayer, I’m really angry about the way DreamWorks seems to be dodging the issue of guarantees, for either the local colleges’ training programs or the at-risk job training programs.

I just can’t see how we as taxpayers can continue to let corporations come in and give us a song and dance without guarantees on how they intend to serve the public. I can see letting corporations get subsidies, if and when they realize whose money is paying for these subsidies, and have the courtesy to recognize that if they put some of the subsidy into the area . . . that from such programs they and others would be able to access a well-trained labor force. That would help those of us who are the taxpayers by increasing the tax base.
