The Block at Orange is reporting strong foot traffic.

General Manager James Mance said the Block is averaging about 245,000 visitors a week and now predicts that 13 million to 14 million people will visit the Orange shopping and entertainment center this year.

“We’re ecstatic with the numbers that are coming through here right now,” he said.

By comparison, the Irvine Spectrum Center had 6.8 million visitors last year and is expecting 8.1 million this year.

The Block is considerably larger than the Spectrum--about 800,000 square feet, compared with about 500,000. But the Spectrum will expand to about 1.1 million square feet when its third phase is completed, a project expected to begin this year.
