Even before she became Mrs. Johnny Cash in the late ‘60s, this member of country’s legendary Carter Family has been at the side, if not in the shadow, of the towering Man in Black. This solo project takes her back to her ultra-rural roots with an all-acoustic, exceptionally sparse setting featuring her old-timey autoharp strumming and tremulous vocals. Mostly it’s a wistfully low-key, living-room-intimate reflection on timeless issues of familial love and spiritual yearning.
