Bike Lane

Share

* Gasoline prices go up, the air is polluted and traffic clogs our streets. Recently, Los Angeles quietly restriped 190th Street from Western Avenue to the Harbor Freeway for six lanes of automobile traffic, eliminating the only east-west corridor for bicycles between the beach cities and the Cal State Dominguez Hills area. I have commuted 18 miles round trip by bicycle along this route for over 20 years.

Now, I am forced off my bike and into my car where I, too, can consume fossil fuels, contribute to air pollution and add to traffic congestion. I am saddened that the city does not place any value on alternative transportation.
