HP to Sell BroadVision Portal Technology

Share

Hewlett-Packard will announce today a $35-million deal to sell business portal technology made by BroadVision. The 3 1/2-year deal will combine Hewlett-Packard’s sales staff, which numbers in the thousands, with BroadVision’s roughly 50 staffers, said BroadVision’s Chief Executive Pehong Chen. The deal is expected to help Redwood City, Calif.-based BroadVision compete with myriad other companies also working to develop customized Web page portals for client companies.

This is the fourth in a series of partnerships that Hewlett-Packard has announced since it recently created an electronic commerce division. Other such partnerships are expected to follow, said division General Manager Nigel Ball.
