The PTA Thrift Shop will hand out $12,000 in scholarship money at its annual luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The thrift shop, run for 40 years by school volunteers, will hand out 20 $500 scholarships to La Habra and Sonora high school students who demonstrate financial need and a desire to continue their education. The thrift shop also will name two recipients of the Lucille Thure scholarship, based on the students’ volunteer efforts and named after one of the shop’s longtime volunteers.
