When Kris Zorn bought her home six years ago, the master bathroom had a sink, toilet and a miserly window. Now, that room in this 1,200-square-foot home has been transformed into one of its most appealing.

Zorn built a wall of glass blocks behind the shower, added custom cabinets and installed a mirror and brass fixtures.

She didn’t stop there. “I had the house gutted. Everything was pretty much out except the four walls.”

She was faced with a dark and dank version of 1970s-era hip, but since the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was in a great location, a rebuild was in order.

She had copper wiring installed and splurged on a 10-foot-tall closet with built-in drawers and mirror for the master bedroom.

“It was expensive, but it was fun,” she says.

The five colors of carpeting were replaced with light gray wall-to-wall, and dingy tan walls were brightened. The result is a “cute, quaint home.”

Zorn was originally attracted to the house’s yards, which have flowers that bloom all year, but they now compete with the bathroom and the living room’s large picture window for star appeal.

Remodeling the one-story house, which has been on the market since February, was a work of love. That’s the reason Zorn is teary about selling to relocate up north.

“From an emotional standpoint, it’s hard,” she says. “So I just don’t even let myself go there with my thoughts.”
